TexAnns picked to finish third in volleyball
Following one of Tarleton's best seasons in volleyball and finishing runner-up in the Lone Star Conference last season, the TexAnns were picked to finish third in 2009.
West Texas A&M was picked to defend the LSC after receiving ... of ... first place votes.
Abilene Christian was picked to finish second following last season's final match loss to WTAMU.
Following the TexAnns is Midwestern State, Texas Woman's, Angelo State, Central Oklahoma, TAMU-Commerce, Southeastern Okla., Cameron, TAMU-Kingsville, East Central, Southwestern Okla., and Eastern New Mexico.

ACU received 16 out of 20 first place votes. West Texas A&M (3) and Midwestern State (1) recieved the remaining four votes. The Texans tallied 87 total points while ACU received 135 points.

North Division Polls revealed
Central Oklahoma was picked to win the north division followed by Texas A&M-Commerce and Southeastern Oklahoma in a tie for second. Southwestern Oklahoma, East Central and Northeastern State follows.
William Green (A&M-Commerce) and Jermelle Cudjo (UCO) named north division preseason co-defensive players of the year.
Marcus Johnson (ECU) named north division offensive player of the year.

Tune into LSC Media Day on Blog, Twitter and Facebook
DALLAS - Stay tuned to TarletonSports.com for all of the happenings at the 2009 Lone Star Conference Football and Fall Sports Media Day this Thursday.
We will be tweeting and live blogging the event from the Crowne Plaza Suites in North Dallas that begins at noon.
Fans can keep track of the day's events with the Tarleton Tales Blog and the TarletonSports Twitter page. Fans are also encouraged to leave comments on the blog page and can tweet questions to the Tarleton Sports Information office throughout the day.
The football preview is scheduled to begin at 12:08 p.m. with the announcement of south division preseason polls and awards. The south division coaches will then follow with remarks begining at 12:45 p.m. Volleyball anncouncements are slated to begin at 1:10 p.m. with cross-country announcements to follow at 1:22 p.m. The event will conclude with an open-interview session with coaches and players that will run from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
