Texans square off against #7 Midwestern State

The Tarleton Texans are getting ready to take on the #7 ranked Midwestern State University Mustangs. This highly anticipated match-up is the first in two straight games between these two teams as a part of the Lone Star Conference Rivalry Week. Tip-off is moments away.

- The Mustangs have jumped out to an early lead as the Texans have allowed them to bury three three-pointers in the first eight minutes of the game. The Mustangs lead at this point by the score of 16-5.

- Texans still unable to score points as they just can't seem to find the basket right now. The Mustangs have jumped out to a big 37-12 lead with just over three minutes left to play in the half.

- Halftime here at Wisdom Gym and the Texans are trailing big by the score of 47-14. Thus far in the contest the Texans have shot just 20 percent from the field and just 13 percent from beyond the arc. Midwestern has taken advantage of nearly every opportunity as they have shot a very efficient 67 percent from the field as well as 67 percent from the three point line. The Texans will look to step things up in the second half.

- Texans went on a small 7-0 run to bring the game back to a 28 point margin. Midwestern continues to hit from behind the arc as they have now made nine three-pointers in the contest. Score is now 61-31.

- Final here at Wisdom Gym with the Mustangs taking this one by the score of 66-49. The Texans made a nice final push by the deficit was too large to overcome. They travel to Wichita Falls on Saturday for the rematch with tip-off set for 8 p.m.

TexAnns vs. Midwestern Mustangs

Just before tip-off here at Widsdom Gym as the TexAnns prepare to take on the Midwestern State University Mustangs. After a one point loss the to Javelina's of Texas A&M-Kingsville the TexAnns find themselves on the outside looking in of the top 25 national rankings. They will look to improve on their 16-4 record tonight and jump back into the mix as one of the top teams in the nation. - The TexAnns have set the tone as they take an early 10-3 lead over the Mustangs. Morgan Stehling has gotten her game going early with four points already as well as two free throws coming up.

- The offense continues to roll thus far in the first half with the TexAnns scoring 24 points with just over 10 minutes gone in the first half. TexAnns lead by the score of 24-10.

- Tarleton has been tough on defense, forcing the Mustangs to commit 11 turnovers. The TexAnns have taken advantage of those turnovers by turning them into 12 points. TexAnns now lead 36-18.

- In the last minute of the first half the TexAnns were able to rip off six straight points on their way to a 42-20 half time lead. They are led so far by Stehling with nine points and Tara Towns with seven points. They are showing a ton of energy tonight and show no signs of slowing down.

- Mustangs come out and are able to put some points on the board as they look to try and close the gap on this lead. They have already scored 11 points right out of the half and cut the lead to 17.

- Score remains in favor of the TexAnns as they keep a comfortable lead. Shelby Adamson has filled up the stat sheet so far with 14 points, four rebounds, and four assists.

- The score is settled here at Widsom Gym as the TexAnns have defeated their Lone Star Conference rival by the score of 70-47. The TexAnns will look to make it two straight over the Mustangs as they travel to Midwestern this Saturday for the conclusion of the LSC rivalry week. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
